Focus on Outreach and Service

  • ESIC partners with power industry, national labs, and other institutions to develop new technology to solve the world’s energy challenges.
  • Our research positions WSU as a regional and global leader in electric power systems through technology transfer and ESIC Summits.
  • ESIC collaborates with governments and industries on policies to promote innovation on sustainable renewable energy adoption.
  • We work globally with leading educational institutions to research and develop solutions for modern power systems.

The Western Protective Relay Conference (WPRC)

The Western Protective Relay Conference (WPRC) is an educational forum for disseminating, discussing and networking on broad and detailed technical aspects of power system protection.

The conference covers everything from the traditional focus of generation, transmission, and distribution to new developments in distributed generation, battery energy storage systems, and microgrids. As the electric power grid is rapidly changing, WPRC aims to bring you the latest in how the engineering of protection is adapting to the new environment. Furthermore, WPRC offers a special training track for engineers new to the field featuring lectures on concepts basic to protection and communications used for protection.
