Overview

Given the challenges facing the power system, a regional and multi-regional analysis capability that informs actionable, scenario-based decisions for planning and operating a reliable, resilient, and affordable grid would provide benefit to power system stakeholders. This presentation introduces GridCRED™, a DOE Office of Electricity sponsored research center housing the people, data, and tools that provide the foundation for timely, replicable analyses of specific grid scenarios. The audience will gain an appreciation of the use-cases that stakeholders have designated as relevant and important, particularly focusing on the benefits and impacts of Integrated System Planning.

Speaker Biography

Jacob Reidt is a Senior Power Systems Research Engineer on the Grid Communication and Architecture Engineering Team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He has recently been named the Director of GridCRED™, an analytics platform sponsored by the DOE Office of Electricity and led by PNNL. He has held engineering and senior management roles at Seattle City Light, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, and most recently, Avista Utilities. He has also served as an adjunct for the Gonzaga Transmission & Distribution Master’s Program and received a BSEE from Seattle University as well as an MBA from Gonzaga University.
